Agreement for good employment conditions for university staff

The past few years have been marked by numerous innovations in the legal and institutional framework conditions for university employees. This includes the agreement for good employment conditions.

This agreement between the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research, Landespersonalrätekonferenzen and the university administration of North Rhine-Westphalia came into effect in January 2016. The agreement contains new ideas for improving employment conditions at the state's universities.

In addition to provisions on equality and inclusion, the employment of assistants, the awarding of teaching contracts, fixed-term and part-time employment, the agreement also covers academic qualifications. The implementation of the agreement was directly initiated at the University of Cologne. At the same time, it has paved the way for strategic considerations at the University in the area of academic staff.
