Belegplatzvermittlung DFG-funded Research Associations

The German Research Foundation (DFG) supports measures for the compatibility of science and family for scientists. DFG-funded research associations such as excellence clusters, collaborative research centers, (clinical) research groups or graduate colleges can use the equal opportunity funds to find childcare places from a quota at our cooperation partner FRÖBEL Bildung und Erziehung NRW gGmbH. Participation in our Stellenpooling is a prerequisite for this, with which the CFS has been increased by one position for exclusive advice to the DFG research associations in the area of ​​compatibility of family and science.

Placement procedure

If the research network already participates in Stellenpooling and the need for a daycare center placement becomes known, the placement process is as follows:

The forms available for download have to be filled out, signed and sent to belegplatzvermittlung@verw.uni-koeln.de. The "Expression of Interest" form is also the written consent of the researcher that his/her personal data and that of the child concerned may be passed on to the Fröbel Group. There are around 50 daycare centers in the Cologne area under the sponsorship of FRÖBEL Bildung und Erziehung NRW gGmbH. At least three desired daycare centers should be specified in the form in order to increase the chance of a place. Possible criteria for the selection would be: close to home, easy to get to on the way to work, suitable opening times or childcare for children under the age of two, etc.

At the same time, the coordination of the research network can be contacted to clarify whether they can contribute to the placement costs for the cooperation daycare place. We need the completed form for the approval of costs signed by the coordination.

As soon as all signed forms are available (in digital form is sufficient), the data will be forwarded to the Fröbel Group. The daycare places are usually arranged at the beginning of the new daycare year, which starts annually in August (placement during the year is only possible in individual cases and must be requested individually). The regular placement begins in November of the previous year, feedback on whether and in which daycare center a place can be offered can be expected in the first quarter of the year. Parents have the opportunity to visit the daycare center on offer and to decide for (or against) it. The childcare contract is concluded between the parents and the Fröbel Group. The research network only bears the costs of provision, the municipal sponsorship contribution, which is based on the joint gross income and the age of the child, as well as the food costs incurred are borne by the parents themselves.
